Are these PEO exams? Do they come with solutions?

We only sell solutions to past technical examinations.

All the provincial engineering regulators (except Quebec) cooperate on the technical examinations.

Those exams are called the "National Technical Examinations" or "PEO Technical Examinations" interchangeably.

There are very few variations in the exams by regulator. Where there is variation (such as 16-CIV-A3 and 16-MEC-A6), these variations are clearly marked.

Who solves the exams and how do they get to me?

The exams are always solved by a subject matter expert (SME) that is teaching or is eligible to teach the subject at a university. Most SMEs have doctoral degrees in the specific engineering disciple.

All exams (except pre-orders) are immediately available for download. You will get an email with download links to PDFs you keep and can print.

Exams marked "***Pre-Order Only***" are not yet solved. Please allow 10 days for delivery. When your solution has been solved by an SME and is ready, I will send you an email with the download link.

I need a course. How do I get a course?

CyberEd does not recommend courses.

A rushed 10 hour review is not a good use of your time because it is passive learning. You are paying to have someone talk at you at a cost of over $100 per hour.

Many technical exams cover the material of 2x 30-hour courses.

CyberEd recommends active learning through self-study. You need to get your pencil moving and expend some elbow grease. At least some of the material you have likely done before. So what you really need is to get back into solving problems and knock off the cobwebs.

Start from a textbook and then study with past technical exam questions. Use the solutions from CyberEd to check your work.

How do I get the latest (post-2020) exam solutions?

The exam rules which you will be required to sign prior to the exam make clear that post-2020 exams are closely guarded copyright materials. They even threaten to sue you for cost recovery to have new exams made and to have everyone write a new exam.

Fortunately, you don't need them. Nothing has changed in nearly all examination syllabi in over 25 years. Focusing on the latest exam is a the cognitive fallacy called novelty bias.

The exams are still written on paper. You just now write in front of a webcam and you scan in your solutions.

It is common for exams 20 years or more apart to have the same questions verbatim.

The people who will make your exam have a big stack of past exams to draw questions from. They have no incentive to make wildly unique questions. That just runs the risk of the questions being too easy, too hard, or with unsolvable errors.

Sure, they may find a deep cut past exam question that you are not prepared for from the technical exam solutions you received from CyberEd. But think of the 80/20 rule. You usually do not have to answer every question and if you can do well on the 80% of questions you need to pass, then you are going to do very well.

There is no better aid to help you prepare than the past technical exam solutions. All past exam solutions are equally useful in helping you prepare to write your technical exam.

Why are the solutions so expensive?

CyberEd was started in 1997 to help as many people succeed at the technical examinations as possible.

If we can sell the solutions for less and help more people, we do.

Unfortunately, few people write these exams. This season only about 800 people will write almost 200 different technical examinations.

When we first started offering solutions, the price was $40 per question. Now we sell solutions for many popular exams at less than $5 per question and nearly all for less than $10 per question.

Some exams are rarely written - sometimes only a one or two times per decade. We still offer to solve any exam (at a loss) for no more than $180.

Periodically, we search through to find exams that we can offer for less money and help more people. Our prices never increase.
